Saying Goodbye :(
"Daylight"
Here I am waiting
I'll have to leave soon
Why am I holding on?
We knew this day would come
We knew it all along
How did it come so fast?
This is our last night but it's late
And I'm trying not to sleep
Cause I know, when I wake, I will have to slip away
And when the daylight comes I'll have to go
But tonight I'm gonna hold you so close
Cause in the daylight we'll be on our own
But tonight I need to hold you so close
Oh-whoa, oh-whoa, oh-whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-whoa, oh-whoa, oh-whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
First Impressions
Hey it's me, reporting from another place, or more specifically, from another country, South Africa !!
My first destination is the game reserve . The reserve is on the Selati River, near the borders of Kruger National Park .LEO Africa's work it's amazing, they maintain a healthy ecosystem and restore this land to something resembling its former state of wilderness before Man initially intervened .
I live in a rustic but comfortable farmhouse, in an isolated location in the reserve . Anyway, I have the most magnificient view, where I can see the hills and the plains of this reserve . It's just me and the nature, no other people, no roads .
I think that I made a good choice, this reserve is unique, it has a great diversity of species . You can see for example :
- leopard
- elephant
- white rinho
- cheetah
- zebra
- giraffe
- several smaller antelope
- lion

Volunteering
LEO Africa, game reserve
My volunteering wildlife consists in record and monitor the movements, behaviour, numbers, kills and habituation of leopards, cheetah, elephant, hyena, and the white rhino . This research will play a vital role in the management of the reserves and conservancies .

The objective of this project is to keep the children occupied and off the streets after school . My role is to teach them valuable life lessons through adventure activities, teamwork, eductional classes of swimming and surfing . The children that don't how to swim, receive swimming lessons . Those that know already, have the opportunity to learn how to surf .

Soweto, the teaching project
My role will be to teach and assist . I can teach English, Maths or Science, or work with a teacher and assit in reading comprehension . But also I can assist with planning and distribution of meals . What I like about this experience is that I can make a child like to learn .

My experience
How can I start? Well, as you can see, this has been the most beautiful and magnificient experience that I had in my entire life. Yes, it might be long but I can assure you that it is worth.
Here are some reasons why you should take a gap year :
Here are some reasons why you should take a gap year :
- You will get to adventure at your prime : lets say that a you should take a gap year when you are 18 years old, because then you won´t have time, you will have a job, children, and worries .
- You will know what is important in life : you will know the world in all its complexity and you will undersand that are bigger issues in life
- You will be an expert at adapting to new places : you will be forced to integrate into a new society nd maybe even new languages or cultural norms
XOXO, Nathalie
